La forma del ritratto nelle fotografie di Carlo Orsi
La forma del ritratto nelle fotografie di Carlo Orsi, curated by Silvana Beretta and Margherita Magnino, from May 18 to July 21, 2024, takes place at Ma.Co.f, CENTRO DELLA FOTOGRAFIA ITALIANA in Brescia.
Carlo Orsi's archive is a treasure trove that can be drawn upon repeatedly for cross-cutting readings of a creative journey that ranges from fashion to reportage, from portraiture to research, and from glamour to experimentation. It is nevertheless surprising to discover how his style, the hallmark of his photography, remains unchanged and immediately recognizable. The PercORSI exhibition explores the portraits that the artist has created in the worlds of art, cinema, sports, music, fashion, and culture.
Around 90 images tell the story of the evolution of a society through the gazes and poses of its protagonists: in addition to the subject, the author of the shot is always present with his strong imprint and his unmistakable approach to photography. Through an intimate and authentic gaze, Orsi brings to light the complexity and beauty of the faces he has immortalized, offering the public a unique perspective on the lives of his subjects.
The exhibition presents a carefully curated selection of images from the Carlo Orsi Archive, spanning a wide range of contexts and settings. The photographs were captured both in the studio, where light and atmosphere are carefully controlled, and on the street, where the authenticity of spontaneous moments and the relationship between the subject and their environment emerges. Carlo Orsi demonstrates extraordinary versatility in his approach to portraiture, both in controlled poses and in more casual situations. Each image tells a unique story, channeling the depth of human experience through the photographer's sensitive and sophisticated interpretation. This selection represents a fascinating journey through the many facets of identity and expression, highlighting Orsi's talent for capturing the true essence of his subjects.
