From September 20 to 25, 1989, the Alias showroom in Milan displayed the photographs taken by Carlo Orsi on commission from Alias to advertise its products. Invited to Moscow to document “Design Alias dall'Italia” (Alias Design from Italy), Orsi created a bold and creative photo shoot, inspired by the deep respect and mutual esteem that bound him to the most visionary designers and architects: Giandomenico Belotti, Mario Botta, Carlo Forcolini, and Alberto Meda. The synergy with these leading figures in design led the photographer to create images that challenge conventions and powerfully communicate the unique spirit of the objects on display. The event, organized at the headquarters of the Soviet Cultural Foundation by Alias, the National Association of Soviet Designers, and Sovdesign, was a meeting of different cultures and languages.
