Lucio Del Pezzo (1933-2020) was an Italian artist active in the fields of painting and sculpture. Born in Naples, he moved to Milan in the late 1950s, where he became involved with the post-war neo-avant-garde scene. Initially influenced by Neo-Dadaist figuration, his work gradually evolved toward a form of geometric precision rooted in metaphysical painting, combined with a pop sensibility and a persistent sense of playfulness. His assemblages and object-paintings, seemingly simple and intuitive, conceal symbolic references and recurring forms. Over the course of his career, he took part in major international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale and the Paris Biennale. He was also involved in public art projects: in 2001 he designed four large ceramic reliefs for the Naples metro stations, and in 2004 he created a monumental bas-relief for the Società di Risanamento Santa Giulia in Milan.
